Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie said Tuesday he hopes a two-day anti-terrorism session he attended in Pearl will help first-responders do a better job when working emergencies.
Police officers, firefighters, county sheriffs, emergency medical technicians and other first responders viewed material that is intended to be used in statewide training beginning in mid-February.
Training sessions are scheduled for Meridian on March 27 and 28.
Sollie said participants were asked to view the presentation during the two-day session and make recommendations to improve it. He said the officers will use the next three to four weeks to review the recommendations and modify the program.
Although most of the information is considered classified, Sollie said, the program covers information sharing between law enforcement agencies from the top down; establishing a unified command system; and training people to handle hazardous materials.
