Alfod Leroy Seals
Retired U.S. Corp. of Engineers
YORK, Ala. Services for Alfod Leroy Seals were to be held today at 10 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church with the Revs. Edwin Dill and Thomas Anchanickel officiating. Burial will be in Demopolis Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Bumpers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Seals, 64, of Gallion, Ala., died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, in Gallion.
Survivors include his wife, Pam S. Seals and a daughter, Trease Ford, both of Gallion; a brother, Dwanton Seals of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Glyna Faye Hall of Demopolis, Ala.; and two grandchildren.
Mrs. J.B. "Minnie" Thornton
JACKSON Graveside services for Mrs. J.B. "Minnie" Thornton will be held today at 11:30 a.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Gordon officiating. Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Thornton, 101, of Meridian, formerly of Jackson, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at Beverly Health Care Center in Meridian.
She was born in Choctaw County and was a former resident of Jackson. She moved to Meridian in 1980 and was a member of Highland Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Margie Hart and her husband, John H., of Meridian; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Thornton
Visitation will be today beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Katherine Timmons
Retired housekeeping at JARMC
Services for Katherine Timmons will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at Enterprise Funeral Home with the Rev. Derrel Flucker officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Timmons, 76, of Meridian, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at Riley Hospital.
Survivors include her sister, Mary Lee Carter of Meridian.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Lillian Pearcy
Retired Newton Police Department dispatcher
NEWTON Services for Lillian Pearcy will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Norwood officiating. Burial will be in Newton Masonic Cemetery.
Mrs. Pearcy, 79, of Newton, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at Newton Regional Hospital. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and a devoted mother.
Survivors include her son, Gary Pearcy of Newton; a sister, Alma Kamp of Peoria, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William James Pearcy; a sister, May Prince; and her parents, George and Bertie Aker Beugh.
Pallbearers will be Richard Norman, Tim Hand, Paul Hand and Larry Jordan.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Hazel Williams Walker

Services for Hazel Williams Walker will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Highland Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Ron McGee officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Walker, 88, of Baton Rouge, La., formerly of Meridian, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, in Baton Rouge. She was an active member of Highland Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for more than 50 years. She was a member of the Garden Study Club. She and her husband were members of the Meridian Lions and Lioness Clubs for many years.
Survivors include a daughter, Jackolyn Durrett and her husband, Joe, of Baton Rouge; sons, Bobby Walker and his wife, Joyce, of Hickory, N.C., and Michael Walker and his wife, Patti, of Olive Branch; sisters, Berniece Nicholson and Sarah Williams and a brother, Billy Williams, all of Meridian; six grandchildren, Kim Walker, Cathy Tolbert, Lanie Walker, Marcy Walker, Suzanne Mott and Doug Durrett.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, N. Jack Walker; her parents, Richard and Arizona Williams; sisters, Jewel Taylor, Maurine Weaver; and a brother, Richard Williams Jr.
Visitation will be today 6:30 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Margaret Fulton Johnson

PHILADELPHIA Services for Margaret Fulton Johnson will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery in Noxapater.
Mrs. Johnson, 89, of Noxapater, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, in her home.
Survivors include her daughter, Janell Johnson of Noxapater; a son, Hershel F. Johnson of New Albany; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Beamon Johnson.
Visitation will be today 4 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Sarah C. Combs
Services for Sarah C. Combs will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Jason Bird officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Combs, 70, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Bill Combs of Meridian; sons, Vicktor Combs of Meridian and Vincent Combs of Arkansas; grandchildren, Teresa LeBouf and her husband, Rip, of Denver and Chad Bancroft of New Orleans; two great-grandchildren, Julian and Shane LeBouf; a brother, James Chunn of Alabama; sisters, Helen Rivers, Marie Trochesset, Peggy King and Betty Gillis, all of Biloxi, Kate Clark of Meridian, Virginia Le Fre-de-Montiguy of Houston, Texas, and Gail Chunn of Philadelphia; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
Pallbearers will be Tracy Clark, Steve, Kevin, and Shannon Trochesset, David and Dale Rivers and Jody Gillis.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Talmadge Howington

MILROY, Ind. Services for Talmadge "Dick" Howington will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Cain Jr. officiating. Burial will be in East Brook Cemetery in Milroy.
Mr. Howington, 76, of Anderson, Ind., died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at Anderson Millers Merry Maner in Chesterfield. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ouida Jaunice Howington; a daughter, Nell Campbell and her husband, Gene, of Anderson; sons, Tommy Norwood and his wife, Reba, of Birmingham, Ala.; grandsons, Philip Campbell, Blake Norwood, Josh Norwood and Tracy Norwood Dennis; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Viba Witington of Meridian; and three half sisters.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two half-brothers.
James Edward Land
Retired school teacher
PHILADELPHIA Services for James Edward Land will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Revs. Johnny Collins and Dr. Marcus D. Finch officiating. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia with Masonic Rites.
Mr. Land, 84, of Union, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in World War II.
