The Key Chapter of the American Red Cross spent about $75,000 in expenses responding to the Dec. 19 tornadoes that devastated Newton and damaged homes in south Lauderdale County.
Cheri Barry, executive director of the chapter, said the Red Cross service center in Newton and another one in Lauderdale County closed last week.
Both helped families affected by the twisters that struck when severe weather moved across East Mississippi. The Red Cross provided victims with food, clothing and shelter.
Barry said people can donate money to the Key Chapter to help cover expenses of the relief effort. Donations may be made to the American Red Cross, Key Chapter, P.O. Box 205, Meridian, MS 39302.
