Northeast Trojans beat Noxubee Co.

The Northeast Lauderdale Trojans closed out the 2002 portion of its basketball schedule by beating Noxubee County 78-72 on Friday night in the Columbus Christmas Classic.
The Trojans will take a 7-9 record into the Christmas break. Noxubee County falls to 10-5.
Marcus Betts led the Trojans with 25 points. Dekino Winston, playing in his first game of the season since a school suspension, had 18 points.
Omarr Conner led the Tigers with 28 points and Brandon Tate had 10.
Northeast Lauderdale returns to action on Jan. 7 against Kemper County.
Hillcrest boys 79
Lamar School 50
Hillcrest picked up a AAA South division win over visiting Lamar School on Friday night in Jackson.
Hillcrest posted the 79-50 victory. The loss drops Lamar to 6-5 on the season.
David Haggard led the Raiders with 11 points.
Chris Posey paced Hillcrest with 23.
Lamar returns to action on Jan. 7 against Jackson Prep.
Nanih Waiya girls 67
Noxapater 40
Nanih Waiya picked up a 67-40 win over Noxapater on Friday night.
Christy Hickman led Nanih Waiya with 17 points. Ashley Pugh had 14 and Heather Steele added 12.
Krystal Hunter led Noxapater with 16 points and Stephanie Blankenship added 15.
Nanih Waiya will host its Christmas Tournament beginning on Dec. 26 at the school. The Lady Warriors will open against Noxapater at 4:45 p.m.
Other teams entered include Louisville, Philadelphia, Union, Newton County, Neshoba Central and Weir.
NW Rankin girls 62
Wayne County 49
Northwest Rankin picked up a win over 5A State semifinalist Wayne County on Friday night.
The loss drops Wayne County to 5-4 on the season.
Lindsey Dukes scored 23 points to lead Northwest Rankin. Stephanie Boggins had 10.
Wayne County was led by Carla Bartee's 26 points. Sonya Henderson chipped in 14.
Hillcrest girls 49
Lamar School 26
Whitney Hancock tossed in 16 points and Brittany Bounds added 13 to lift Hillcrest Christian past Lamar School 49-26 on Friday night.
Keely Phillips led Lamar with nine points.
Hillcrest improves to 9-14 with the win.
Wayne County 70
Northwest Rankin 50
Dietric Slater pumped in a game high 37 points to lead Wayne County past Northwest Rankin 70-50 in division action.
Wayne, 4-1, lead 33-25 at the half. The War Eagles then outscored the Cougars 21-10 in the third quarter to take a 54-35 lead.
Akeem Lofton added 14 points.
Northwest Rankin was paced by Jeremy Bibbs with 13.
