UNION Union's Chamber of Commerce is looking to hire a new executive director soon.
Martha R. Moore, executive director since July 1999, resigned on Nov. 14 to work full-time at her real estate company.
Moore resigned after giving a month's written notice. She said the chamber paid her for 30 hours a week but let her work on her own schedule.
Chamber President Robert Blount said the starting pay is $8 to $8.50 per hour. Funding is provided by the Chamber's membership, which he said is about 150 people. The town has about 1,800 residents.
The Chamber, headquartered at the town hall, meets the second Tuesday of every month.
Its big event is Country Day, held every August, which plays up the town's rural atmosphere. During the event, Main Street is closed to cars, merchants sell numerous items and bands provide entertainment.
Blount said the Chamber is accepting resumes until Wednesday. He said plans call for conducting interviews next week and that he would like Moore's replacement to be hired by early next month.
Blount said Moore will be missed.
Chamber Vice President Renee Adkins said she hopes the position is filled soon.
