The hits came hard and often for West Lauderdale here against homestanding Southeast Lauderdale Tuesday night.
The Lady Knights pounded out 21 hits through a steady rain to soak the Lady Tigers with a 19-0 loss. The win keeps West Lauderdale in first place in Division 5-3A at 7-1. They are now 15-2 overall.
Lady Knights head coach Jerry Boatner was glad to see his team hit the ball as well as they did.
With Tropical Storm Isadore starting to move north, this may be the last softball played this week.
West Lauderdale scored in every inning. They batted around three times in the game accounting for 14 runs over the second through fourth innings.
Southeast, meanwhile, could manage just three hits in all. They did not have a runner reach second base.
Eight of the 10 Lady Knights who started had at least two hits. Right fielder Jessica Moore went 4-for-4.
The top of the order had Courtney Godwin hitting a pair of triples to knock in three runs. She also scored three times.
Kirby Rutledge was 3-for-5 with three runs while J.J. Huggins scored three times off two hits and two intentional walks.
Amy Frazier knocked in West's first two runs off a first inning single. She added a two-run double in the second extending West's lead to 7-0. She finished with two hits and four RBIs.
Brook Bounds drove in a run in each of the first, third and fourth innings. Katie Moulds scored three times while Holly Herrington reached base all four times, scored four run and knocked in three off RBIs in the third, fourth and fifth innings.
