Leonard and Jacqueline Hines announce the birth of a daughter, Shayla Ashanti, on Aug. 5, 2002, at Riley Hospital.
Paternal grandparents are Mattie and Raymond Hines.
Maternal grandparents are Edna Jean Williams and Eugene Brown Sr.
Mrs. Hines is the former Jacqueline Williams.
Jamie and Lori Hollingsworth of Newton announce the birth of a son, Jamie Lee Hollingsworth Jr., on Aug. 28, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Paternal grandparents are David and Gail Hollingsworth of Newton.
Maternal grandparents are Kent and Barbara Darsey of Hickory.
Mrs. Hollingsworth is the former Lori Darsey.
Gidget and Roy Griffin of DeKalb announce the birth of a son, Tyler Roy Junior, on Aug. 28, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Maternal grandparent is Rachel Malone of DeKalb.
Paternal grandparent is Virdia Mae Griffin of DeKalb.
Mrs. Griffin is the former Gidget Malone.
Dean and Michele Reid of Meridian announce the birth of a daughter, Shelbie Dean, on Aug. 29, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Maternal grandparents are James and Martha Murphy of Union.
Mrs. Reid is the former Dina Michele Murphy.
Chandra Buggs of Clarke County announces the birth of a son, Bendarious Da'Shawn, on Aug. 30, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Maternal grandparent is Linda Watts of Clarke County.

Paternal grandparents are Henry and Marie Brand, and great-grandmother, Virginia Harris, all of Meridian.
Maternal grandparent is Gloria Gheen of Collinsville.
Mrs. Dyer is the former Sheila Perry.
