Alvin and Brenda Bacon of Natchez announce the engagement of their daughter, Melanie, to Billy Markell King, son of Billy G. King and Gwendolyn Hardaway of Meridian.
The wedding will be Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Mount Carmen Baptist Church in Hattiesburg.
Miss Bacon is the granddaughter of the late Fredrick and Frances Roy, Camilla Wesley and the late Clinton Miller, all of Natchez.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Natchez High School and is attending the University of Southern Mississippi pursing a bachelor's degree in history, with a minor in psychology.
Mr. King is the grandson of Emma Lee King of Meridian and the late J.C. King, and Ethel B. Gordon of Cruger and the late James Gordon.
The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Meridian High School. He is currently a senior at the University of Southern Mississippi pursuing a bachelor's degree in history. Mr. King is employed with the City of Hattiesburg Recreation Department.
A reception will be held at the C.E. Roy Community Center following the ceremony.
Family and friends are invited to attend.
