MABLE MARIE BLACKWELL JOWERS

YORK, Ala. Services for Mable Marie Blackwell Jowers will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Albert Creel officiating. Burial will be in Cokes Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Jowers, 75, of the Bumkum Community in Ward, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, in her home.
Survivors include a son, Benjamin Jack Jowers and a daughter, Judy Diane Welch and her husband, George, all of Ward; three sisters, Ann Royal and Mattie Joe Roberts, both of Meridian, Miss., Sara Carpenter of Arcadia, Calif.; four grandchildren, Sara W. Seward, George Welch Jr., Diane Welch and Tracy Riley; 14 great-grandchildren, Steffun and Matthew Seward, Brittany and Whitney Welch, Dalton Riley, Brandi DuBose, Crystal DuBose, Jay and Destiny DuBose, Alex, Adam, Heather, Scott and Bobby.
Pallbearers will be Bill Drinkard, Preston Childs, Harold Eyler, Jerry Stephens, Jimmy Stephens and Jimmy Dale Powell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Moore, Steffun and Matthew Seward.
Visitation will be held today from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

NEWTON Graveside services for James Oree "Buck" Payne will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Newton County Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Paul Demoney officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Payne, 85, of Newton, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, in his home. He was a member of Newton United Methodist Church. He was a long-time resident of Newton and graduated from Newton High School. Through his life, Mr. Payne was active in various civic organizations. He served in the U.S. Army Calvary Corp before World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita McMillon Payne of Newton; two sons, Jimmy Austin Payne of Jackson and James Larry Payne and his wife, Liz, of Hattiesburg; two sisters, Joyce Payne and her husband, Jerry Wall, of Richardson, Texas, and Betty Payne Hanzl of Dallas; five grandchildren, April Payne Nall, Gina Jolie Payne, James Larry Payne Jr., Ryan Keith Payne and Jonathan Austin Payne; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude C. and Bertie Sherrod Payne; brothers, Melvin, Cobern, Willis and Claude Payne Jr.; sisters, Laverne Clay, Katherine Grace and Zelle Payne Falgout.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Millard Robinson, Fred Maxie and Charlie Pruitt.
The family requests memorials be made to Hometown Hospice Inc., 8366 Highway 19 North, Collinsville, MS 39325.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m.-9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
SHIRLEY ANN ETHRIDGE

UNION Services for Shirley Ann Ethridge will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Milling Funeral Home with the Rev. Claud Shufelt officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Ethridge, 65, of Union, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital. Mrs. Ethridge was a devoted church pianist, choir member and soloist for many years. "Our loss is heaven's gain."
Survivors include her mother, Lucille Williams of Robertsdale, Ala.; two sons, James "Ted" Slayton and his wife, Laura, of Meridian, Joe Slayton and his wife, Melissa, of Kernersville, N.C.; a daughter, Nora Truhett and her husband, Dane, of Brandon; a sister, Tina Gillaspy of Robertsdale; two brothers, Bill Williams of Del Rio, Texas and Rufus Williams Jr. of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and loving family members including Margueritte Nelson of the House Community.
Pallbearers will be Steve Nelson, John Cherwaty, Billy Joyner, Dennis McInnis, Charles R. Williams, Jay Williams and Julian Williams.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
