Bowling leagues returning to fall routine

By By M.A. Copeland/Special to The Star
Aug. 21, 2001
Here we go again, school started and we're back to the old routine. That also means the fall and winter leagues are starting. We still need a few men and women to fill all the teams. We need two or three men for Monday night Hucklebuck.
We still have openings on Wednesday Night Mix for a team or two plus a bowler or two to fill other teams. We need three or four bowlers for the men's Queen City league on Thursday night. Friday Mix has room for both teams and individuals to fill teams. If you would like to bowl on a team please contact Dixie Bowl at 483-2283. I feel sure you will enjoy bowling in our leagues and it would be appreciated very much by M.A. Copeland and staff.
For those of you that just open bowl, try a league out but Dixie Bowl has a group and party rate. We do lots of birthday parties. Get your group together and pay us a visit.
Now it is time for the high scores of the week.
In Senior League, Glenn Hicks had a 220 and C.W. Gray rolled a 591. For the ladies, Ramona Gehman 171/485. In Adult/Junior, Ron Coleman had a 245/651 for the adults. Josh Coleman had a 234 and Blake Smith had a 601. In Tuesday Mix, Mike Cothern had a 279/743 and Bettye Simmons had a 218/570. In Trio League, Thomas Clay had a 248 and Stan Bottorff had a 665. For the ladies, Barbara Holden had a 234 and Sue Kirkpatrick had a 585. In Ball &Chain, Mike Cothern had a 267/744. Sheila Dearman had a 216 and Billie Coleman had a 560.
As you can see, we are having some great scores so join a league with us and you'll be bowling some great scores too. I'll close by saying have a bowling outing at Dixie Bowl and enjoy some great fun. Until next time have a great week.
