THE REV. RAPHAEL TONER

PHILADELPHIA Services for the Rev. Raphael Toner will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Bishop William Houck and the Rev. Austin Walsh officiating. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Holy Trinity, Ala., with McClain-Hays Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
Reverend Toner, 88, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at The Specialty Hospital in Meridian. He was a Catholic priest. Born in Philadelphia, Penn., he was ordained Dec. 19, 1941 and his first pastorate from 1944 to 1953 was Holy Rosary Catholic Church in the Tucker community, which included Holy Cross Catholic Church in Philadelphia. During this time, he helped establish St. Therese Catholic Church, Pearl River Reservation and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Louisville. He served in Pearlington from 1953-1957. He established La Purisima Parish in El Modeno, Calif., where he served from 1957-1962 and then moved to Dublin, Ga., where he pastored for 23 years. In 1986, he pastored in South Tucson, Ariz., until returning to Holy Rosary Catholic Church in 1996.
Survivors include two nephews, Richard Maguire of Naples, Fla., and N.L. Maguire of Broomall, Penn.; and a number of great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Joseph Toner and Elizabeth Mary Ring Toner.
Visitation will be Sunday beginning at noon and a prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. at the church.
JAMES BREAZEALE

PHILADELPHIA Services for James "Corky" Breazeale will be held today at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Dan Howard officiating. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery with McClain-Hays Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Breazeale, 71, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, March, 1, 2001, at River Oaks Hospital in Flowood. He served in Korea while in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Breazeale of Philadelphia; a daughter, Vivian Breazeale of Jackson; two sons, James Breazeale and John Breazeale, both of Philadelphia; his mother, Janie Johnson of Philadelphia; a brother, Bill Breazeale of Jackson; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cliff Breazeale, and a son, Steve Breazeale.
MARY JACQUELINE CHAMBLIN

Memorial services for Mary Jacqueline Chamblin will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church with Lester Palmer officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Chamblin, 74, of Meridian, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital. She was a member of First Christian Church, the Elizabeth Barnes Circle and the Meridian Junior Auxiliary. She was born in Lake Village Arkansas and resided in Meridian for more than 20 years.
Survivors include three sons, Jay Chamblin and his wife Lois of Memphis; Jeff Chamblin and his wife Sarah of New Orleans; and Jim Chamblin of Los Angeles; a sister Jo McGhee of Memphis; two grandchildren Brandt and Hannah Chamblin of Memphis.
She was preceded in death by her mother Reva Pickens, and a sister Doris Councille.
CHARLES GAINES SMITH

Services for Charles Gaines Smith will be held today at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home chapel in Newton County with Bro. James B. Allen and the Rev. Billy Owen officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.
Mr. Smith, 74, of Decatur, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was retired from Esco in Newton. He was a member of the Decatur United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Wanda Finnagan and her husband, John, and their children of Gulfport; a sister, Walterine Haynes and her husband, Andrew P., of Easley, S.C.; a great-aunt, Ruth O'Steen of Jackson, Ala.; and three nieces, Sue Weissinger and her husband, Tommy, of Clinton, Diann Cleveland and her husband, Harold, of Union, and Darene Geddes and her husband, Josh, of Coco Beach, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Loper Smith.
The family requests memorials be made to Decatur United Methodist Church.
MARSHALL L. LANDRUM JR.
DEKALB Services for Marshall L. Landrum Jr. will be held today at 2 p.m. at Walker Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Meridian with the Rev. William Harper officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with E.E. McDonald Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Landrum, 45, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene Landrum; four daughters, Debra Landrum, Latonja Landrum and Maria Landrum, all of Meridian, and Stephanie Landrum of Crawford; a son, Lester Landrum of Meridian; his parents, the Rev. Marshall Landrum Sr. and Ruby Collins of Houston, Texas; a sister, Dian Landrum of Meridian; five brothers, Lonnie Collins and his wife, Ole Mae, Freddie Collins, Lee Collins, Tony Collins and his wife, Mary, and Melvin Collins and his wife, Sylvia, all of Meridian; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son and three siblings.
WILLIAM BURTON SMITH

Graveside services for William Burton Smith will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery with David Bankston officiating. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith, 47, of Meridian, died Friday, March 2, 2001, at his home. He was an electrician. He was also a member of Carmel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Jackson Smith of Meridian; three children, Sasha Smith of Meridian, Jackie Martin and her husband, Scott, of Centerville, Ala., and Eddie Hall and his wife, April, of Great Lakes, Ill.; a sister, Melanie York and her husband, Robert, of Kewanee; his parents, William W. "Pete" Smith and Elsie of Meridian; five grandchildren, Tiffany Hall and Cody Hall, both of Great Lakes, Zachary Martin, Andrew Martin and Christian Martin, all of Centerville, Ala.; three nieces, three great-nieces and a great-nephew.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
