Golden anniversary
B.C. AND ELSIE MAY
A reception in honor of the 50th wedding anniversary of B.C. and Elsie May will be held Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, 2-4 p.m., at Adams Chapel United Methodist Church in the Elwood Community. The event will be hosted by the couple's children and grandchildren. The Mays were married Feb. 10, 1951. The couple requests no gifts.
50th anniversary
MURRY AND JEAN REW
A celebration of the 50th wedding anniversary of Murry and Jean Rew was held Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Sumter Country Club in York, Ala. The event was hosted by the couple's children, Howard Rew and his wife, Judy, of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., and Rosemary Watkins and her husband, George, of York. The Rews have three grandchildren. Married Feb. 10, 1951, they are retired and currently reside in Ward, Ala.
99TH BIRTHDAY
Edward Compton celebrated his 99th birthday on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, with a party at Aldersgate Personal Care Center.
Compton is a life-long resident of Clarke County and now resides at Aldersgate. He is active in his home church in the Clarkdale community, Oak Grove Methodist.
The church family planned a special day of food and fellowship for Compton in honor of his birthday. The event included a surprise gathering of his children William and Doris Compton of Laurel, Gertrude Hodges and Charles and Pam Compton, all of Meridian grandchildren and great grandchildren.
