Trees of Christmas closes Saturday
The 2000 Cellular South Trees of Christmas tour, presented by the Meridian Restoration Foundation, will continue through Dec. 9 at Merrehope and the F.W. Williams House. Daily tours are available, and a candlelight tour is scheduled for tonight. For information, call 483-8439.
Candlelight Tour of Homes
A Candlelight Tour of Homes in Kosciusko will be held on Dec. 10. Tour historic homes, buildings and the Cultural Center, all decorated for Christmas. Tickets are required. Call (601) 653-3684 for information.
Christmas at the Old Capitol
Held Dec. 5-22 in Jackson, this even has become a tradition enjoyed by thousands each holiday season. It is held in the 155-year-old historic Greek Revival structure that once served as the state capitol building. Beautiful decorations include a Mississippi cedar tree adorned with 1800s-style reproduction ornaments and toys from the museum's collection. Free. Contact (601) 359-6920 for information.
Holiday Home Tour/ Crystal Christmas
Holiday Home Tour/ Crystal Christmas on Dec. 11 in Aberdeen. Tours of homes decorated for the holidays, 3 to 6 p.m., $10 for a three home tour. There will also be an evening driving tour of decorated neighborhoods from 6 to 9 p.m., free. For information call (800) 634-3538.
Balfour Christmas Ball
Balfour Christmas Ball held Dec. 11 in Vicksburg. Beneath the flickering glow of candlelight, elegant ladies and dashing Confederate officers danced one cold December evening in 1862. When told of an impending attack by Union gunboats, the officers bade their ladies a hasty goodbye and left to defend the city. Join in this gala evening of food, music and festive re-enactment. Victorian Candelight Christmas
Victorian Candelight Christmas in Hattiesburg on Dec. 11-12. Enjoy a carriage ride through the Hattiesburg Historic Neighborhood, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Fifteen thousand luminaries line the streets of homes decorated for the holidays. Entertainment and refreshments are offered. For information all (601) 545-7620.
The Last Christmas Craft Show
The Last Christmas Craft Show of the year will be held Dec. 11-12, inside the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center, exhibit hall D, in Biloxi. Show hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $3.50 and ages 15 and under are free. Over 100 booths will be on hand. this show features our most requested artists and craft dealers. Door prizes every 30 minutes and admission allows the same person back both days.
