Belgreen High School will be the host site for a presentation from Bradford Heath Services titled The United States of Numb: Current Adolescent Drug Trends and Social Media Impact. The presentation will be given by Angela Camp, national coordinator of adolescent and emerging adult marketing for Bradford.

“Angela Camp is an excellent speaker who speaks to professionals and parents across the country in regards to current drug trends, risks of addiction, drug concealment and reference clothing,” said Cynthia Forsythe, district administrator and At-Risk/Safe & Drug-Free Schools and Communities coordinator for Franklin County.

Camp will presenting information that will be helpful to anyone, Forsythe said, especially people who work with adolescents.

Many times, drug references can be easy to spot – if people know what to look for.

“Our school district is providing an opportunity for parents and community members to learn more about adolescent drug trends and the impact social media plays in our society,” said Forsythe.

Camp holds a master’s degree in counseling from the University of Alabama-Birmingham and has worked in the mental health and addictions fields for 25 years. Thirteen of those years have been spent with Bradford Health Services.

Camp is currently serving as the national coordinator of Adolescent and Emerging Adult Marketing. In this role, she oversees a broad range of community liaison and quality improvement efforts for Bradford’s adolescent and emerging adult programs and associated family services, both regionally and nationally.

She presents on various topics, including drug trends, treatment, legalization, bullying and parenting.

“We had rave reviews from our employees after Ms. Camp presented to them on Aug. 4 at the Franklin County Schools Employee In-Service,” Forsythe said. “We encourage parents and community members to attend this very informative presentation to gain knowledge of current trends facing our youth that could affect their future success.”

The presentation is free to attend.
