AMERICAN LEGION CHAPTER HOLDS BANQUET

RUSSELLVILLE – The local American Legion chapter hosted a banquet at North Highlands Church of Christ in Russellville.

Members presented the “Missing Man Table,” a tradition that recognizes military service members who are prisoners of war or missing in action.

The table included a white cloth to symbolize purity of purpose. A single rose stood for waiting families. A red ribbon represented the continued determination to account for the missing.

A slice of lemon reminded attendees of their bitter fate, and salt represented the tears of loved ones. A lighted candle signified hope for their return.

A Bible represented strength through faith, and an empty chair showed their absence.
