UPDATED: Russellville Police Department locates man wanted in three states

Russellville Police Department patrol officers located Billy Joe Williams, a suspect wanted in three states. They shared the news via a post to their Facebook page July 14. They reported that after conducting a traffic stop, they located Williams trying to hide on the passenger floorboard, noting that, upon discovery, he attempted to flee, but was quickly apprehended. The driver of the vehicle, Tabitha Goins, was also arrested.  

The Russellville Police Department reported via a post on their Facebook page July 12 they were searching for Billy Joe Williams, also known as Jerry Williams, a wanted person who had recently been in this area.

In the post, they reported he was likely using the name of a stolen identity, Jerry Williams. Also in the post, the RPD said, as well as having felony charges against him, Williams was wanted in Georgia for Failure to Appear for the charges of Robbery by Force, Aggravated Assault, Exploitation and intimidation of disabled adult, elder person, or resident and Giving False Information to a law enforcement officer. They further noted at that time that he was wanted in Mississippi for a probation violation on the charge of Aggravated Assault. 

Williams was charged with the following: 

  • Obstructing Justice Using a False Identity 
  • Forgery Second Degree 
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance – meth.  
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia  
  • Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement 
  • Fugitive From Justice  

Goins was charged with the following: 

  • Hindering Prosecution Second Degree 
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

The Russellville Police Department said they received several calls from the public in reference to the case.  All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
