Lady Golden Tigers win two at Northwest Alabama Bash after dropping softball area games

The Russellville varsity softball team recently completed regular season area play with games versus Lawrence County and Ardmore. The Lady Golden Tigers fell to 2-2 on the season in Class 5A Area 16 after losses in both games to create a three-way tie in the area standings. Next up for RHS (20-19-1) will be regular season contests against Florence and Hatton before the area tournament takes place at Lawrence County.

Lawrence County 8, Russellville 4

RHS went to Moulton April 15 and fell to the Lady Red Devils. The Lady Golden Tigers led 3-2, but LCHS scored three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.

Paislee James had three hits for Russellville. Bryleigh Butler had two hits and one RBI and Brooklyn Butler added a hit and two RBI. Emma Campbell also had a hit for RHS. Jacey Moore was the Russellville pitcher.

Ardmore 3, Russellville 0

Ardmore came to Russellville April 18 and got a shutout win over the Lady Golden Tigers.

AHS got a two-run first inning home run and added a single run in the top of the third. Russellville outhit Ardmore 8-6 with Brooklyn Butler leading the team with three hits. Ticelee Gholston added two hits, and RHS got one hit each from Paislee James, Addison Holcomb and Emma Campbell. Jacey Moore pitched seven innings and struck out nine.

Russellville 6, Lexington (Tenn.) 5

Russellville started play in the Northwest Alabama Bash held at the Florence Sportsplex with a win April 19.

Bryleigh Butler and Khristyan Huerta both hit home runs for RHS. Huerta had three RBI to lead the team. Butler also had a single, and Gholston added two hits and one RBI. Jacey Moore had a hit and one RBI while Paislee James, Emma Campbell and Jemma Moore also hit safely. Paislee James pitched all five innings to get the win.

Pell City 9, Russellville 2

Game two of the day in the NW Alabama Bash for RHS included Pell City scoring six runs in the second frame of the four-inning game.

Addison Holcomb hit a two-run home run, and Paislee James had a single. Brooklyn Butler pitched for Russellville.

Russellville 4, Winfield 2

The second day of the NW Alabama Bash got off to a winning start for Russellville. RHS scored four times in the third inning of the four-inning game. Russellville had RBI from James, Holcomb and Brooklyn Butler. RHS hits were by James, Gholston, Brooklyn Butler, Jacey Moore, Jemma Moore and Huerta. Addison Holcomb pitched for Russellville and allowed one hit.

Athens 3, Russellville 2

A walk-off single helped Athens to a win in the last game of the NW Alabama Bash for RHS. The Lady Golden Eagles scored all of their runs in the last frame of the five-inning contest.

Jemma Moore had two hits for RHS. Brooklyn Butler, Emma Campbell and Jacey Moore added one hit each. Jacey Moore had the Russellville RBI and the senior right-hander also pitched, allowing no earned runs.
