Red Bay spoils Homecoming for Tharptown
The Red Bay Tigers spoiled the Tharptown Wildcats’ Homecoming by using a dominant run game and by taking advantage of turnovers, winning 54-14.
Red Bay controlled the game with 422 yards of total offense, while Tharptown had 209 yards of total offense.
The run game was the Tigers’ go-to, with 413 rushing yards, highlighted by Brady Hardin rushing for 128 yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns.
Cody Carnes contributed with 74 yards on four carries and two touchdowns. Jaxson Vinson ran for 85 yards on five carries.
The Tigers jumped out on top with a seven–yard touchdown run by Cody Carnes.
The Wildcats responded with a touchdown on a screen pass from Hunter Reynolds to Jeremy Vasquez. Vasquez took it 45 yards to pay dirt to tie the game 7-7.
The Tigers’ answer was scoring two touchdowns in less than 30 seconds to take a 24-8 lead: an eight–yard run by Keeton Lanphear and a 40–yard run by Brady Hardin.
After the Tharptown touchdown, Red Bay scored 42 unanswered points.
To start the second quarter, Hardin ran for his second touchdown of the night. This one came from 5 yards out, giving the Tigers a 30-8 lead.
Red Bay scored again on an 18–yard run by Brady Bolton to take a 38-8 lead, and Cody Carnes ran for his second touchdown of the night from 23 yards out to extend the lead to 46-8. Caden Keeton capped off Red Bay’s scoring on an 11-yard touchdown to open the fourth quarter.
Tharptown added a final score late in the game on a 43-yard run by Vasquez.
Red Bay will travel to Falkville this week. Tharptown will have an off week.
