RHS tennis teams target swing at state

Russellville’s varsity tennis program has a history of success, and the 2022 season shapes up to be another good one on the court.

Girls’ team head coach Charlotte Dollar has a talented roster this year, with the super sophomore duo of Peyton Parrish and Sofia Tiffin leading the way. Joining them on the varsity team will be Natalie Busler, Addie Strickland, Madeline Cooper, Leah Rushing, Kinsley Palmer and Avary Miller – 2021 state champ in doubles.

RHS will host the section tournament again this year, and the girls’ team has become a regular participant in the state tournament over the past few seasons under Dollar.

The Russellville boys are coached by Ben Phillips. The Golden Tigers have a solid roster that includes Carlos Richardson, Ayden Boyd, Kiah Derrick, Bralynn Vincent, David Tomas, Josue Tomas and Bryan Ruiz.

Class 4A-5A, Section 8, opponents for the Russellville girls and boys this season are Brooks, Central-Florence, Deshler, Rogers, West Point and Wilson. The section tournament is scheduled for April 12 for both the girls and boys at RHS, and the state tourney is scheduled for April 18-19 in Mobile.
