Boyfriend, arrested, charged in child porn case

RUSSELLVILLE — The boyfriend of the 22-yearold who was charged with taking nude photos of a 6-year-old girl is facing 76 criminal charges, including first-degree sodomy and sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old.

Franklin County Sheriff’s investigators issued a warrant for the arrest of Michael Clinton Chambers, 26, of Carrollton, Georgia, two weeks after his girlfriend, Abigail Roberts, was arrested on 106 counts ranging from possession of child pornography to firstdegree sodomy. Chambers is being held in the Franklin County Jail without bond pending an Aniah’s Law hearing. That hearing was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon (April 28).

Sheriff’s investigators traveled to Randolph County, Alabama, where they worked with the sheriff’s office there to try to locate Chambers. It was later learned that Chambers had returned to Carrollton, Georgia.

“Police found him in his car in a parking lot there,” Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver said. “He had a listed address in Randolph County, but he had been going back and forth from there to Carrollton.”

PoliceinCarrolltonlocated Chambers and took him into custody. Chambers agreed to be extradited to Franklin County, where he was booked into the jail on Thursday night.

Chambers was arrested and charged with 30 counts of dissemination of child pornography, 30 counts of production of child pornography, 11 counts of sexual abuse of a child under 12 years old, three counts of first-degree sodomy, and one count each of directing a child to engage in sodomy, and enticing a child for immoral purposes.

During an initial hearing April 16 for his girlfriend, Franklin County Sheriff’s investigator Clint Holcombe read from a paraphrased transcript of an interview with Roberts.

Roberts told Holcombe she was in the Franklin County area with her boyfriend and had “made the acquaintance of” the victim’s mother. She also claimed she had been living with the victim and her family for approximately three weeks.
