Q&A with Kaci Harris, PCHS senior right-fielder
Q: How old were you when you started playing softball?
A: I was probably about four when I started playing.
Q: Was there anyone special in your life that helped you become a great player, and how?
A: My ead helped me. He always pushed me to do my best and never give up.
Q: How do you get ready for a game?
A: To get ready for a game I like to interact with my team and talk about the game.
Q: What do you like to do when you are not involved with softball?
A: When not playing, I like to spend time with friends and put in a little extra practice.
Q: What factors do you feel have influenced you the most to become the player and person you are today?
A: Being coached by good coaches.
Q: Did you have any routines or superstitions before or in a game?
A: No, I didn’t really have a routine. I just liked to play game by game.
Q: What is your favorite softball memory?
A: I have so many memories, but just having fun and being with my friends is my favorite.
Q: What softball player has influenced you most in the game? Why?
A: My mom always took my sister and I to some Alabama softball games every year. I always enjoyed that and it made me want to push harder when I was playing.
Q: What is the greatest obstacle you have had to overcome in your playing career?
A: Some obstacles are not always getting to play. It was hard, but it makes you want to try harder and be a better person. Also, my senior year getting cut short.
Q: What is life after being a softball player for you?
A: I will be going to Northwest for two years. Then I will transfer to Wallace to pursue my degree in dental hygiene.
Q: What are your thoughts on your season and career coming to an abrupt end?
A: I feel for every senior, not just for the ones who got their seasons cut short. We didn’t know that last day would be the last to possibly ever walk the halls of our high school again. For the ones coming up – do not take it for granted. You never know what could happen. Enjoy it, make memories and have the time of your life because it will be over in a blink of an eye.
