RPL hosts cake decorating class

In an effort to bring more diverse, non-traditional opportunities to the community, Russellville Public Library is going to be allowing library patrons to “check-out” cake pans for their own at-home use. Pans have been donated by Lynn Winter, a caterer from Haleyville.

“She offered to donate the pans, and I asked her if she would be willing to host a cake decorating class,” board member Cheri McCain said.

Winter will be hosting a basics cake decorating class Sept. 25 at RPL from 5:30-7:30 p.m. She will provide cakes she personally baked and show participants how to do basic decoration. Participants will then be able to take those self-decorated cakes home with them. There will also be a drawing for a cake that Winter baked and decorated herself.

There was such a big response from the community when the library first advertised for it, the class filled up within two days, McCain said. The library aims to add more classes in the future, but no official plans have been made.
