Russellville library closes out summer reading program

School-age children create their own jellyfish out of craft supplies at the Russellville Public Library.

The Trantham children are just a few of the recipients of a free meal from McDonald’s, donated by local McDonald’s owner Debbie Martin.

“I was very pleased with attendance and plan to really grow the program next year,” RPL Director Ashley Cummins said.

Barbie Briscoe from the Kids and Kin program came for the final program and helped the school-age children with arts and crafts. Children got to create their own jellyfish out of paper plates, colorful tissue paper and string.

That night summer reading program attendees celebrated with an awards day at the Russellville pool. A total of 62 children completed the summer reading program and received a certificate for a free meal from McDonald’s, courtesy of local McDonald’s owner Debbie Martin.
