Hwy. 36 access project approved
RUSSELLVILLE — Franklin County commissioners have agreed to move forward with a a Highway 36 industrial access project.
Assistant County Engineer Caleb Sherrill said the project will create a new entrance to serve 4E Aggregates.
“It was kind of a larger project, but once we worked with the state this is what we’ve got,” Sherrill said of the project, which will be funded by a $121,600 grant that requires no local match.
A March 10 letter from the Alabama Department of Transportation shows the funding was approved through the state’s Industrial Access Road and Bridge Corporation.
The county’s responsibilities include preliminary engineering, right-of-way acquisition, utility costs, and any expenses that exceed the grant.
