Lolley beats Stutts in county race

A total 1,970 votes were cast in Franklin County for the primary run-off election July 17.

The run-off between Sen. Larry Stutts and Steve Lolley for State Senator District 6 was closely watched. In Franklin County, Lolley came out on top with 60 percent of the vote, or 1,185 votes. Stutts received 764 votes, 39 percent.

State wide, however, Stutts was the winning candidate.

Alabama’s Attorney General race became heated as election day approached, but Steve Marshall pulled out on top for Franklin County with 61 percent of the votes (1,142). Troy King received 701. Marshall was the winning candidate state wide as well.

Will Ainsworth won the county’s votes for lieutenant governor with 1,025 votes, beating Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh. who received 857 votes.

Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Place 1 went to Sarah Hicks Stewart with 1,019 votes. Brad Mendheim came in second with 700 votes.

The Court of Civil Appeals Judge Place 1 winner was Christy Olinger Edwards with 765 votes. Michelle Manley Thomason was a close second, though, with 675 votes.

The Court of Criminal Appeals Judge Place 2 winner was Chris McCool with 851 votes. Opponent Rich Anderson received 628 votes.

Rick Pate won the Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries race with 851 votes, with Gerald Dial on his tail with 835 votes.
