Sometimes success begets success. Following a record-setting run in basketball, in which the Bobcats went all the way to the 2A state semifinals, the Phil Campbell softball team started the season 4-0 and won the Cherokee Invitational Tournament.

Phil Campbell posted a 6-1 victory over Falkville in the finals to secure the championship. The road to the championship game included the Bobcats beating Falkville another time 1-0, Waterloo 8-1 and Tharptown 3-1.

In the championship game, the Lady Bobcats got all the wins they needed in a four-run first inning. They added two more runs in the bottom of the third inning.

Leeah Jackson led the way for Phil Campbell, going two-for-two with two runs batted in and scoring two runs.

The Bobcats got a hit, two runs batted in and a run scored from Abby Davis.

Phil Campbell also got a hit and RBI each from Kallie Allen and Oliva Knight. Katie Thomas and Kenner Scott also scored runs in the game.

The previous game against Falkville was scoreless going into the final inning. Jackson roped a double to left field scoring Thomas all the way from first base for the game-winning run.

Emma Ergle got the win pitching five innings, allowing only three hits and no runs and striking out four batters.

Phil Campbell was never threatened in an 8-1 pounding of the Waterloo Cougars.

In their Waterloo win, the Bobcats scored two runs in the first inning and five in the second to build a 7-0 lead before Waterloo could get on the scoreboard.

Emma Ergle got the win, allowing no hits in the game and striking out four.

In the opening game of the tournament, Phil Campbell scored three runs in the top half of the first inning and held on to beat the Tharptown Wildcats 3-1.
