RHS to host one-day camp for baseball

Young baseball athletes can get a little expert advice with a one-day Winter Baseball Camp, hosted by the Golden Tigers on the RHS campus Jan. 15.

The camp is geared for first through sixth grade. It will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the baseball stadium and gym at Russellville High School.

Instructors will include RHS coaches Chris Heaps, Jay Stanley, Eli Fuller, Corey Flanagan, Nathan Vincent and Jess Smith, along with former Golden Tigers Matthew Duncan and Cory Trapp and current RHS players. Camp attendees will work on pitching, hitting, infield play, throwing fundamentals, fly balls and outfield play, baserunning and sliding, speed and agility.

Campers should plan to bring glove, hat, outdoor cleats, indoor tennis shoes, bat and helmet to camp with them.

Camp cost is $75, with a $10 sibling discount.

Lunch and snack will be provided.

To register, mail a camp application to RHS Baseball/Chris Heaps, 1865 Waterloo Road, Russellville, AL 35653. Applications may also be turned in the day of camp.

For more information, call Heaps at 256-345-0531.
