Tharptown volleyball picks up wins

The Tharptown volleyball program picked up some big wins this week against area foe Hackleburg and against East Lawrence.

In their first matchup last week with Hackleburg, the Lady Wildcats won in three straight sets. Brooke Daily led Tharptown with eight kills. Adriana Borden had four kills. Makensy Hester had ten assists with five digs. Kasey McCormack had two kills and 15 assists. Breanna Gasque had four digs and several attacks. Overall, Tharptown had 11 aces.

Tharptown faced Hackleburg again later in the week and won 3-1. The Wildcats also lost to Phillips 3-0.  Overall, Tharptown had 21 aces and 20 kills.

Borden led the Wildcats with six kills. Daily had five kills, and Erica Gray had four kills. McCormack and Ameliah Dawson contributed a few kills as well. Daily led Tharptown in aces, serving 12 in a row. Hester had four aces, four digs and numerous assists.

Tharptown is now 2-3 in area play.

The Wildcats also beat 4A East Lawrence in two sets last week. Overall the team accumulated 12 aces. Daily led with four kills and two blocks. Borden had three kills and two blocks. McCormack had nine assists, one block and a kill. Gasque had four assists and a kill. Dawson had several attacks. Anslee Bottoms had three kills, and Gray had two kills and two blocks.
