RC&D, Extension host Outreach Meeting

For farmers who are new to the biz – or for anyone who is interested – an Outreach Meeting will be offered next week to share information on a cost-effective rollover protective structure.

The meeting will be hosted jointly by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Northwest Alabama Resource Conservation and Development Council, Sept. 26 from 3-4 p.m. in the Franklin County Courthouse Extension meeting room.

“The Colbert County High School Agriculture department has been given a grant to put these CROPS on older trackers to help prevent rollovers, and it will be very inexpensive to the farmers,” explained RC&D’s Marianne Leigh. “They will be the only ones in the state with this ability, and we want everyone in our council area to know more about it.”

Representatives at this meeting will explain what a CROPS is, how it works and who might need one and why.

Other program updates will also be shared.

For more information, call RC&D director Lauranne James at 256-383-1446.
