RPD seeks vandalism suspect
Local authorities are on the hunt for an unidentified suspect they have linked to four vehicle break-ins in Russellville.
The four vehicles that were taken in Russellville are not counting ones that might have been taken in the nearby areas of Moulton, Decatur and Madison.
Sgt. Jake Tompkins with the Russellville Police Department shared details of the investigation. “(Sept. 4) around 3 p.m. we received reports of four vehicles being vandalized and broken into and their checkbooks and I.D.s being stolen,” Tompkins said.
The suspect is a white female driving a newer model tan Nissan Pathfinder that officials said they believe she is switching the plates on. Bank surveillance cameras in Madison and Decatur captured the suspect’s face as she was in the process of cashing one of the stolen checks.
“She is using the stolen identities to put on the large amount of checks she is cashing, and that’s how we’ve been able to track her so far,” Tompkins said.
Authorities said additional suspects might also be involved.
Sept. 7 officials released the information to Crime Stoppers. Tompkins advised anyone with information on the suspect to call Crime Stoppers, anonymously if needed.
“We are asking for the public’s help to identify the car and the suspect, and we’ll take it from there,” Tompkins said.
