Council accepts new bid for JAWS
At its Monday meeting, the Russellville City Council accepted a bid to purchase extrication tools for the Russellville Fire Department.
According to Mayor David Grissom, the council had previously accepted a bid of $21,175 from Central Alabama Training Solutions, but when the invoice came, the charge was $6K higher. The company claimed it had not included the cost for part of the equipment in its $21K bid and would not honor the original bid.
Although Municipal Emergency Services’ bid of $24,984 had formally expired, RFD fire marshal Justin Green said the company agreed to honor their bid. The council voted to rescind acceptance of the CATS bid and instead accept the MES bid.
The council also:
-declared a vacancy for equipment operator 2 in the Russellville Street Department and voted to promote from within the classified service.
-approved the cost of $5,700 to be paid from the Capital Improvement Fund for purchase and installation of signage at Hal Kirby Jr. Park.
– voted in favor of Air Evac Membership renewal for civil service employees.
