Amuel Athel Whitaker
Amuel Athel Whitaker, 90, of Haleyville, passed away Aug. 7 at his residence. He was a farmer, painter and carpenter and also a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie Mae Whitaker; son, Danny Whitaker and his wife Jerita; siblings Lois Whitaker, Rachel Jones and Millard Whitaker; grandchildren Chris Whitaker and wife Staci and Emily Cox and husband David; step-grandsons Patrick Whitehead and wife Jessica and Tyler Whitehead; great-grandchildren Addison Whitaker, Sydney Cox and Caleb Cox; and step-great-grandchildren Garrett Whitehead and Reagan Whitehead.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Lena Guttery Whitaker; brother, Amos Whitaker; and sisters Gladys Bell and Letha Taylor.
Visitation will be Aug. 10 from 6-9 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Haleyville. Funeral service will be Aug. 11 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Phil Campbell. He will be laid in state from 1-2 p.m. at the church with burial following in adjoining cemetery.
Officiating the service is John Humphries and Dennis Steward.
