Niche ranks FC schools No. 7 in safety
Franklin County Schools was recently pegged as the seventh safest school district in the state.
Niche, which is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Penn., presents itself as “a website that helps you discover the schools and neighborhoods that are right for you.” The group analyzes and presents “dozens of public data sets and millions of reviews to produce comprehensive rankings … for every K-12 school, college and neighborhood in the U.S.”
Rankings include lists like “Best School Districts for Athletes” and “Most Diverse School Districts” – along with “Safest School Districts,” among which FC Schools placed seventh out of 128 schools ranked.
According to Niche, rankings were determined based on “rigorous analysis of data” from the U.S. Department of Education along with information gathered through student and parent surveys. Data given the most weight was parent/student surveys on health and safety conducted by Niche. Other factors included expenses, student absenteeism, suspensions, expulsions, law enforcements referrals and school-related arrests.
