Donald Ray Self

Donald Ray Self, 69, passed away July 10 at the Red Bay Hospital. He was born in Franklin County and worked at Sunshine Mills for 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam.

Services were held July 14 at 2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, with Bro. David Corum officiating. Burial was in Halltown Cemetery, Vina.

Survivors are his wife – Sue Self, Red Bay; two sons – Terry Self and wife Carrie and Ronald Self, all of Red Bay; four grandchildren – Dalton Self, Austin Self, Hayden Self and Bentleigh Self; one brother – Elmer Lee Self and wife Dorothy, Red Bay; and a host of nieces, nephews and in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Self and Bertha Boyd Self; a daughter, Donna Sue Bentley; five brothers and one sister.

Pallbearers were Michael Self, Brian Self, Sharmon Self, Keith Aters, Jerry Self and Glen Graham.

Visitation was held July 13 from 6-9 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay.
