Russellville preps for July 4

Jam on Sloss Lake, held at Sloss Lake on Highway 24, begins the morning of July 4 at 7:30 a.m. with the Cotton Flats Cruisers car show until 2 p.m. Live music will pervade the morning, on the following schedule:

10:50-11:45 a.m. – Southbound

Noon to 1 p.m. – Kerry Gilbert Band

The car show awards ceremony will be held from 1:15-2 p.m.

Throughout the day, there will be inflatables for the children and food available for sale.

In the afternoon, live entertainment will once again take center stage leading up to the grand finale, the fireworks show.

4 p.m. – Still Here

5 p.m. – Purpose

6 p.m. – Rewind

7:15 p.m. – Joseph Baldwin

8:30 p.m. Joe Diffie

Diffie, who was approved as headliner for the Independence Day festival at last week’s Russellville City Council meeting, is described on his website as a “multi-platinum-selling artist (who) has never slowed down – writing, touring and recording a myriad of projects … with chart-toppers like ‘Pickup Man,’ ‘Third Rock from the Sun’ and ‘John Deere Green’ and 13 albums and over 20 Top 10 singles to his credit.”

Diffie will perform until 9:30 p.m., at which time Cummings and city officials will remark prior to the fireworks spectacular presented by Alabama Pyrotechnics.
