Two killed in Colbert crash

A single-vehicle crash at 7:20 a.m. June 18 claimed two Franklin lives.

Alabama State Troopers reported Ryan Matthew Smith, 22, of Red Bay, and Eddie Allen Dees, 21, of Vina, were killed when the 2007 Ford Explorer they were occupying left the roadway and struck a tree.

Smith, the vehicle’s driver, and Dees, the passenger, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred on Highway 247 nine miles south of Tuscumbia. Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
