Summer program celebrates fathers
The P.A.W.S. summer program invited students’ fathers to join their children in the morning for a special breakfast in honor of Father’s Day.
“We decided to do something for the dads because a lot of times the mothers get things while the kids are in school, for Mother’s Day,” program director Paula Young explained. “So we wanted to do something to celebrate the dads of our program and invite them in and partner with our community to do that.”
CB&S Bank donated Bojangles biscuits and drinks for the breakfast. Dads who weren’t able to stay for the breakfast were invited to take a biscuit to go.
“Dads have such a huge impact on their kids’ lives,” said Young, who said she was pleased with the response and turnout. “We always want them to feel like they’re welcome in our schools.”
