FCSO arrests one for menacing, threats

According to a report from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, a Russellville man was arrested last week and charged with making terrorist threats.

William Samuel Todd, 36, was arrested following an incident that took place at his home in Russellville. Sheriff Shannon Oliver said officers had been interviewing Todd April 19 at the sheriff’s office in relation to an ongoing investigation, after which the officers – accompanied by Todd, in a separate vehicle – drove to his home to interview his mother.

“As officers were talking to the mother, he put a handgun in his mouth, like he was going to kill himself,” Oliver said. He began advancing toward the officers, shouting obscenities and making threats, according to the FCSO report.

The FCSO officers were able to subdue and disarm Todd, who was transferred to a mental health facility through April 25 and, upon release, was arrested and charged.

Oliver expressed his gratitude that the incident was resolved without any harm to Todd or to FCSO officers. “Thankfully he was arrested without anything happening to anybody.”

In addition to two counts of terrorist threats, Todd was also charged with two counts of menacing. He remains in the Franklin County Jail on a $250K bond, according to Oliver.
