Ann Elizabeth Kent Wells

Ann Elizabeth Kent Wells was called home by our Lord April 26. She was born Feb 15, 1929, to Paul and Louise Kent. She married Gordon Alan Wells Aug. 29, 1947. They enjoyed traveling around the country and working in their garden. They were happily married for 43 years until his death in 1990.

Having graduated from Deshler High School and Florence State University (UNA), she obtained bachelor’s, master’s and Ed.S. degrees. For 30 years, she was employed by the Colbert County School Board as a teacher and principal at Littleville Junior High School and ended her career at Colbert Heights Elementary School in 1994.

She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Littleville for 60 years until her health prevented her from attending.

She was a fantastic cook and delighted in making meals for family and friends. Her pound cakes were legendary and were quickly devoured by whoever was lucky enough to receive one.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother and doting grandmother and great-grandmother.

Visitation for Mrs. Wells will be April 29 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville from 10 a.m. until noon. Services will follow at noon in the chapel with Bro. Bill Smith officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Kris Kent, Joe Kent, Mike Willis, Paul Bingham, James Bingham, and Gary Bolton.

Mrs. Wells is survived by her daughters: Peggy and husband Frank Montgomery, Freida and husband Gene Ellison and Becky Long; grandchildren: Bethany Ellison Malone, Alisha and husband Chris Corbell, LeAnne Johnson, Bradley and wife Jesley Long and Haley and husband Clay Duck; great-grandchildren: Madeline and Marianne Malone, Caison and Cohen Corbell, Judd Johnson, Gunner Long and Bryston and baby Duck (on the way); brother, Jack and wife Gayle Kent; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Alan Wells; son, Keith Gordon Wells; granddaughter, Jennifer Head; parents, Paul and Louise Kent; and siblings, Warren Kent, Gip Kent, and Polly Reynolds.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jack McLendon for his kindness and loving care of her and the staff of The Cottage Assisted Living in Russellville for attending to her needs. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Littleville or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
