Phil Campbell gets area win over Sulligent

By Bart Moss for the FCT

The Sulligent Blue Devils led the Phil Campbell Bobcats briefly, but a steady dose of runs in the late innings lifted Phil Campbell to an easy 8-1 win. Phil Campbell scored eight runs on 12 hits and took advantage of four Sulligent errors.

Sulligent led 1-0 after scoring a run in the bottom of the second inning. In the top of the third inning, the Bobcats picked up two runs to take the lead the rest of the way. Olivia Knight and Caitlyn Mills scored on a two-RBI double by Leeah Jackson.

Phil Campbell scored another run in the top of the fourth inning, when Chloe Roberson scored on a line drive single by Knight.

Jackson hit an inside-the-park home run in the top of the fifth inning to give the Bobcats a 4-1 lead. Phil Campbell scored two more in the top of the sixth inning on a single by Abby Davis scoring Bethany Scott and Mills.

The Bobcats got their final two runs in the top of the seventh inning on a two-RBI double by Scott scoring Jade Roberson and Brittney Roberson.

Jackson reached base three times, had three RBIs and scored a run. Davis had two RBIs. Mills scored two runs. Brittney Scott had two RBIs.

In a recent loss, the Phil Campbell Bobcats dug themselves too big of a hole to climb out of, losing 6-5 to the Hackleburg Panthers.
