A Foundation of excellence

At its annual scholarship dinner April 17, held at the AW Todd Center, the Russellville City Schools Education Foundation took the opportunity to award 11 scholarships to RHS students.

Students recognized were Tristan Patrick, Nate Franklin, Mara Fernandez, Stephanie Monterroso, Pedro Lucas, Kaidin Wallace, Tiffany Epnett, Leah Nix, Kyle Tidwell and Slate Wallace, as well as (not pictured) Makayla Phifer.

In addition, the first-ever Dan C. Hindman Star Polisher Award was presented to teacher Monica Balding, and outstanding alums Susan Hall and Lanny Norris were honored for their contributions and achievements.

The Foundation has provided thousands of dollars through its fundraising efforts. In addition to a number of scholarships each year, the foundation also provides grants each year for teachers who make requests for items needed in their classrooms.

The banquet is a primary annual source of funding for the Foundation, in addition to the Torch Run and community/corporate donations.

As part of the banquet, attendees also enjoyed music provided by RCS performing arts students, a silent auction and a Chinese auction.
