RMS students collect 1,546 canned goods

Students at Russellville Middle School collected 1,546 cans to be donated to the Salvation Army during a recent drive.
According to FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) adviser Rachel Agee, the Students Against Destructive Decisions group and the FCCLA collaborated together to promote the canned food drive and urge all RMS students and faculty to participate in giving food items to families within the community.
“The can food drive was a success. We raised over 1,500 cans to help families in our area,” SADD Vice President Conner Byars commented. “It was very special and kind of everyone who donated. This will help very much.”
Agee said she and SADD Sponsor Derek Gober would like to thank every student as well as the community for participating in the 2016 RMS Canned Food Drive and making it a success. “We are so proud of the students for giving back and helping those in need,” Agee said.
SADD President Fallin Cox said of the drive, “There is nothing more rewarding than giving back to the people in our community.”
FCCLA member Brayden Bolton added, “I donated canned food to the food drive because I thought it was important to help those who needed it.”
FCCLA member Luis Lucas said he donated “because I knew that people need the food more than me. I care for my town, and I want to do what is right.”
