Elouise Thorn

Elouise Thorn, 94, passed away at the home of her daughter Nov. 6.

She was born April 22, 1922 in Red Bay, and was a lifelong member of the Eastside Church of Christ. In addition to her love of the Lord and her church, she was a wonderful cook and spent many hours cooking for her friends and family. She also enjoyed crafts, especially quilting. Elouise was an avid Rook player and played to win! In fact, she loved any game that involved competition.

During the last ten months of her life, she moved to Muscle Shoals to live with her daughter. The day after moving, she established a new place to worship the Lord and church home. After her new church was located, she set out to find new friends in the area. The Muscle Shoals Senior Living Center made the last ten months of her life very enjoyable. David and Janet Nichols (manager) made her feel like a queen each day she entered the center. She went on to meet many new friends and play many, many hours of her favorite sport there, Rook!

Graveside services will be Nov. 8 at 4 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Red Bay, with Danny Fuller officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Red Bay.

She is survived by her daughter, Lavonda Sparks and husband David, of Muscle Shoals; daughter-in-law, Cathy Peden, Red Bay; four grandchildren, Brandon Sparks and wife Lori, Hartselle, Daniel Sparks and wife Lynsey, Madison, Eddie Peden and wife Jessica, Red Bay, and Andy Peden and wife Samantha, Red Bay; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husbands, Ray Peden and Rossie Thorn, and her son, Danny Ray Peden.

The family would like to thank Dr. Brad McAnalley and his staff and Hospice of North Alabama for their excellent care.
