BHS Ambassadors are active in all kind of activities at Belgreen High School and recently took a field trip to Universal Studios.

At Belgreen High School, student leaders known as Ambassadors, in grades 5-9, are selected based on academic performance, responsibility, attendance, appropriate behavior, leadership skills and participation in clubs, sports and music.

Ambassadors are involved in the following: inspirational quote and Pledge each morning, school bulletin board, elementary school paper, tutor for elementary students, Meet and Greet Committee, help with school events and serving as role models. This year the students have been active in a number of activities, including studying the “7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens,” adopting a family for Christmas for Secret Santa, helping at the Breakfast with Santa event and serving as the editors for Puppy Paws.

Upcoming events include participating in a Random Acts of Kindness Challenge, honoring bus drivers for Bus Driver Appreciation Month and hosting mother/son and daddy/daughter date night and a parents picnic. Ambassadors will also be involved in the science fair and will welcome and serve the SACS Accreditation Team.

A recent field trip opportunity for these Ambassadors this year was a three-day/three-night visit to Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla. Fundraisers were offered to raise money for this trip by selling sheets and Cokes. The students had a blast as they rode the amazing roller coasters, the simulated 4D rides, toured Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade and even got plenty of exercise through the miles and miles of walking required to cover the entire park. Some even got to experience flying for the first time on the flight from the Birmingham airport to Orlando. Each student, parent and sponsor represented Belgreen well on the trip.

The 2015-16 Ambassadors are: (eighth grade) Dylan Adkins, Summer Mitchell and Ansley Tate; (seventh grade) Scout Bragwell, Will Donahoe, Bailey Oliver and Isac Willingham; (sixth grade) Carson Cox, Maria Estrada, Jackson Galliano, Alex Jarnigan and Canaan Stough; and (fifth grade) Katie Cooper, Caige Smith, Noelle Willingham and Jordan Wright. Sponsors are Melissa Cox and Tara Oliver.
