    Northwest-Shoals Community College recognizes local students

    These students have been recognized by Northwest-Shoals Community College for their achievements.

     

    – Brady Garrett Petree, Russellville, received an ambassador scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. He graduated from Tharptown High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society, Franklin County Junior Leadership, Future Business Leaders of America, Student Council and the baseball, basketball and track teams. He was Senior Class Representative, yearbook staff co-editor, Fellowship of Christian Athletes co-leader and Students Against Destructive Decisions treasurer. Petree is the son of Dwayne and Katrina Petree. His grandparents are Howard and Wanda Bradford and Homer and Ida Petree. While at Northwest-Shoals, Petree will pursue a degree in secondary education.

    – Dylan Bales, Russellville, received a performing arts scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College.

    A graduate of Russellville High School, he was a member of the RHS Singers and Drama Club.  He was Future Farmers of America vice president and Christian Students United treasurer. He is the son of Candi Yocom Bales and Shawn Bales. His grandparents are Ray and the late Gladys Yocom and Dennis and Brenda Bales. While at Northwest-Shoals, he will pursue a degree in vocal music education.

    – Chelsey Higgins, Hodges, received an academic scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. A graduate of Red Bay High School, Higgins was a member of the Red Bay High School Hall of Fame and the A/B Honor Roll. She is the daughter of Jeff and Shana Higgins. Her grandparents are the late Ben and Onida Higgins and the late Carol Seahorn. While at Northwest-Shoals, she will pursue a degree in English.

    – Nelda Otzoy, Russellville, received an ambassador scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. A graduate of Russellville High School, Nelda was a member of Franklin County Junior Leadership, Educational Talent Search, Spanish Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Student Council, band, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Christian Students United and Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. She is the daughter of Jorge Otzoy. Her grandparents are Antonio Otzoy and Nicolasa Otzoy. While at Northwest-Shoals, Otzoy will pursue a degree in accounting.

    – Hannah Kent, Phil Campbell, received an academic scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. A graduate of Vina High School, Hannah was a member of the “A” Honor Roll. She served as cheerleading co-captain and Future Business Leaders of America secretary and was a People to People nominee. Kent is the granddaughter of Donna Kent. While at Northwest-Shoals, she will pursue a degree in business administration.

    – Savannah Mills, Russellville, received a performing arts scholarship and the “Josh Green Memorial Scholarship” from the Northwest-Shoals Community College Foundation. A graduate of Russellville High School, Savannah was a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha  Theta, “A” Honor Roll, Alabama All-State Choir and Show Choir, Spanish Club, Student Against Destructive Decisions, Drama Club, Marching 100, Health Occupations Students of America, Crime Cats, Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America and Franklin County Junior Leadership. She was Tigerette captain, RHS Show Choir president, choreographer and dance captain. Mills is the daughter of Bryne and Misty George and Stuart and Gayla Mills. While at Northwest-Shoals, she will pursue a degree in psychology.

    – Sadie Breanne Wade, Russellville, received an academic scholarship, the “Bill Lucas Memorial Scholarship” and the “Mattie Lou Gist Memorial Scholarship” through the Northwest-Shoals Community College Foundation. A graduate of Russellville High School, Wade was a member of Mu Alpha Theta, Christian Students United, Health Occupations Students of America, Spanish Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Future Business Leaders of America, Student Booster Club, and Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. She also received the all “A” Presidential Award. She is the daughter of Michael and Ginger Wade. Her grandparents are Larry and Wanda Wade, Dennis and Gwen Scott, and Bobbie Martin. While at Northwest-Shoals, she will pursue a degree in registered nursing.

    – Kailey Grace Baker, Russellville, received an ambassador scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. A graduate of Colbert Heights High School, she was a member of Junior Civitan, Key Club, Future Business Leaders of America and the Science Club. Baker is the daughter of Jamie and Shae Baker. Her grandparents are Felda McNutt and the late Roy McNutt, the late Joyce Hudson and Mr. and Mrs. James Baker.

    – Courtney Baker, Phil Campbell, received an ambassador scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. A graduate of Phil Campbell High School, Baker was a member of the Student Council, Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, Students Against Destructive Decisions, 4-H Club, National Honor Society, and the basketball and softball teams. She was a cheerleader and Senior class Who’s Who “Best All-Around.” She is the daughter of Jarriod and Tonya Baker.  Her grandparents are William and Kathy Borden, June and Chris Smith, and Jerry and Martha Baker.

    – Sarah Elizabeth Rollins, Hodges, received an academic scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. A graduate of Hackleburg High School, Rollins was a member of the band, chorus, Beta Club, Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, H Club and Future Farmers of America. She is the daughter of David and Gail Rollins. Her grandparents are Vestel Rollins, Betty Wester, and Dudley and Betty Jo Kilpatrick. While at Northwest-Shoals, she will pursue a general liberal arts degree.

    – (NO PHOTO) Jessica Ann Smith, Russellville, received an applied technology scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. A graduate of Tharptown High School, Smith was a member of the softball team and President of Automotive Refinishing. She is the daughter of Tommy Clay Smith and Lisa Michelle Smith. Her grandparents are Ruby Lynch, Stanley Lynch, and Odell McGuire. While at Northwest-Shoals, she will pursue a degree in dental hygiene.

    – (NO PHOTO) Sophronia Brooke Bowden, Russellville, received an applied technology scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. A graduate of Russellville High School, Bowden was a member of the National Honor Society, Cosmetology Club, Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, Students Against Destructive Decisions and Christian Students United. She is the daughter of Misty Smith and Cindy Hall. While at Northwest-Shoals, Bowden will pursue a degree in human services.

    – Zachary Wilkinson, Phil Campbell, received an academic scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. He graduated from Belgreen High School, where he was a member of Future Business Leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Beautification Club, Senior Scholars Bowl, History Club and the basketball team. He is the son of Rodney Wilkinson and Penelope Austin. His grandparents are Joe and Wanda Karwacki and Cathy and Elton Wilkinson. While at Northwest-Shoals, Wilkinson will pursue a degree in computer science.
