Bobcats baseball off to hot start

While many teams are still trying to get games in due to the wet and winter weather, the Phil Campbell Bobcats are off to a hot start.

The Bobcats are off to a 3-1 start defeating South Lamar 7-5, Lamar County 3-2, East Lawrence 12-9, and losing to Sheffield 9-7.

Blake Jones was the winning pitcher in the matchup with South Lamar.  Jones pitched 3 ⅔ innings, giving up four runs—only one of which was earned.  Peyton Thomas got the save.  At the plate the Bobcats got a big game from Skylar Tackett and Gage Roberson.  Tacket had two hits, two RBIs, and scored one run.  Roberson had a double with an RBI and scored one run.  Phil Campbell also got runs from Blake Jones, Peyton Thomas, Colby Baker, and Luke Baker.

Peyton Thomas was the winning pitcher in the South Lamar game.  Thomas pitched 2 ⅔ shutout innings giving and striking out four batters. Skylar Tackett knocked in the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Tacket had two hits, a run, an RBI, and two stolen bases in the game.  Joe Hardy had two hits, an RBI and a stolen base.  The Bobcats also got runs from Gage Roberson and Luke Baker.

Gage Roberson was the winning pitcher in the East Lawrence game and Peyton Thomas got the save.  The Bobcats had a big game at the plate.  Joe Hardy had a hit, an RBI and scored three runs.  Blake Jones had a hit, three RBIs and scored two runs.  Peyton Thomas had a hit, three RBIs and scored two runs.  Gage Roberson had an RBI and scored a run.  Colby Baker had two hits and two RBIs.  Hayden Copeland had an RBI and scored a run.  Nick Swinney had two hits and RBI and scored a run.  Skylar Tackett had a hit, two RBIs and scored a run.

 

Blake Jones took the loss in the Sheffield game pitching two innings and giving up three earned runs.  The Bobcats had runs scored by Hardy, Baker, and Roberson.
