Tharptown senior Savannah Hamilton inked a softball scholarship Jan. 25 with the Calhoun Warhawks. Hamilton, a standout third baseman for the Wildcats, will look to play the same position for Calhoun.
“I am very excited for the opportunity to get to play softball at the next level and to continue my education at Calhoun,” said Hamilton, a fifth year varsity player. “I can’t thank my coaches enough for helping me achieve my goals and pushing me to move on to the next level.”
With her first two years of college secure Hamilton is ready to focus on her final season at Tharptown and make it a successful one.
“We want to win,” said Hamilton. “That’s what its all about. We just got to go out there and play our very best and have a good attitude.”
Hamilton says she and her teammates are excited about their first year at the 2A level and are ready to take on the challenge.
“We’ve got our goals set to go on to state to get the blue map this year. We aren’t going to settle for less.”
Tharptown softball coach Tanna Benford says she is happy for Hamilton and excited about the upcoming season.
“Calhoun is getting a great young lady,” said Benford. “You couldn’t ask for a better person and a competitor. Savannah is a hard worker and always give it her best. She will do anything you ask her to do. I am looking forward to her having a great senior year for us.”
