Council moves on hiring

The Russellville City Council met Dec. 1 and continued discussions about the hiring of new police officers after recent resignations from several city police officers.The council approved the hiring of two patrol officers in the Russellville Police Department and approved the declaration of vacancy and the right to advertise for four patrol officers in the Russellville Police Department.The council also approved the submission of a letter to the Russellville Civil Service Board for the revised career ladder for the Russellville Fire Department. Russellville Fire Chief Joe Mansell explained that this would explain to and inform members of the Fire Department any restrictions or steps they would need to take in order to get a promotion.

Other actions taken by the city council:

  • Approval of ordinance for granting a sewer franchise to the Water Works and Sewer Board of the City of Russellville and its successors and assigns
  • Approval of contract with Bobby Brown as Police Chaplin
  • Approval of SRO contracts with Donnie Aycock, Cary Hitt, Danny Price and Wyman Pounders
  • Accepted the resignation of Carmonica Graham from the Russellville Public Library Advisory Board
  • Promotion of Lieutenant in the Fire Department
  • Approved the declaration of vacancy for Fire Fighter II and the advertisement from within the classified service.
