Mistletoe Market this weekend
For those frazzled holiday shoppers who are still looking for the perfect Christmas gifts, the Russellville High School Winter Guard is hosting an event this weekend that will allow shoppers to choose from a wide range of gifts all in one place.
The second annual Mistletoe Market will be held on Saturday, Nov. 29, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the band room in the RHS Fine Arts Building on the Russellville High School campus.
The event will feature vendors selling a wide range of products from embroidery to jewelry to arts and crafts.
Color guard sponsors Mitzi McNutt and Jennifer Willis said the event is being held on what is known as “Small Business Saturday,” which is a follow-up to the highly commercialized Black Friday sales at most major stores.
The purpose of Small Business Saturday is to support small, local businesses that sometimes get the short end of the stick with so many major stores putting on Black Friday sales.
“We have a wide variety of vendors coming to the market, and almost all of them are local,” McNutt said.
“When we decided to have this event last year, we knew we wanted to support local people and their businesses because the local community has always been so supportive of [the Marching Hundred] and the things that we do throughout the year.
“Small Business Saturday just seemed like the perfect time to have an event like this.”
Willis said the list of vendors coming to the Mistletoe Market includes: Origami Owl, Over the Moon Customized Crafts, Jamberry Nails, Tupperware, On the Corner, American Health & Fitness, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Initial Outfitters by Kristi, SAR Creations, Pampered Chef, Allison Pinkard Photography & Crafts, Thirty-one, Critter Creations, Scentsy, Premier Designs, Advocare, True Color Designs, The Olive Tree, Sassy Frassy Custom Wreaths and much more.
Admission to the event is free and door prizes will also be given away at the event. Willis also said they will be collecting used ink cartridges and old cell phones to help raise money for the Winter Guard’s upcoming season.
