Two injured in accident on South Jackson

Crews work to remove the driver from the vehicle after the SUV hit a tree on South Jackson Avenue and turned over on its side.

A Russellville man and a young girl were injured in a one-vehicle accident on South Jackson Avenue in Russellville just before noon Wednesday.

According to officials, it appears the driver of the vehicle was traveling south when the vehicle went off the road and hit a tree, causing the vehicle to turn over.

Officials said the vehicle came to rest several yards away.

“The driver of the vehicle and the little girl, who was a passenger, were both transported by ambulance to Russellville Hospital,” Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said.

He said the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Hargett said the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
